Our Story
Ad-Craft Sign and Design is a fully-fledged signage, digital printing, and web development company based in Noordhang, Randburg. Bridging the gap between physical manufacturing and digital presence, our roots run deep in the South African printing industry.
The Durban Roots
Ad-Craft was originally created by Harold Graham Cluttey in Durban, focusing on the specialized production of dome badges and custom stickers.
Passed to Paul
The company name was handed down to his son, Paul Graham Cluttey. Initially, Paul used the name while servicing fire extinguishers. Needing custom labels to mark serviced units, he acquired a small screen printing kit.
The Return to Printing
People noticed Paul's printing capabilities and began requesting custom work. Eventually, printing stickers became a full-time vocation. Ad-Craft returned to its roots as a core sticker printing business using silk screen and vinyl, run directly out of Paul's garage in Florida, Johannesburg. It soon evolved into a full signage company.
Factory Expansion
The company experienced significant growth, leading to the opening of a full factory in Delarey. In the latter part of the decade, Paul left South Africa to pursue personal goals, pausing operations.
A New Start in PE
Paul returned and restarted Ad-Craft in Port Elizabeth. Terence Graham Cluttey (Paul's son) came down from Johannesburg and joined him for a while, learning the ropes of the family trade.
Return to Joburg
Operations were moved back to Johannesburg, where both Paul and Terence ran the company as a dedicated small sign shop at the current location.
Broadening Horizons
Terence left the day-to-day operations for a few years to gain broader industry experience and knowledge, diving deep into technologies like web development and coding.
The New Age
Ad-Craft was officially registered in Terence's name. This marked a new beginning, pulling the company firmly into the digital age by integrating bespoke web development and litho brokering alongside our established physical signage services.
